Targa Newfoundland’s first event was held in 2002, and now, almost three decades later this multi-day asphalt road-rally competition is as strong as ever. Covering more than 2000 kms, it runs through both communities and back-roads, past some of the most scenic landscape you’ll find not only in Newfoundland, but anywhere.
The event consists of more than 40 individual stages held on public roads. And while streets are closed during competition, driving teams meander their way across eastern and central Newfoundland getting up close and personal to the amazingly supportive fans and curious onlookers.
From the pristine seaside and the wild, looming, and rugged ocean cliffs to the centuries-old towns and outports, the breath-taking views are encompassed by clean fresh ocean air scented with the tangy taste of the saltwater ocean that surrounds this wondrous and beautiful island.
